Protect Children, Not Guns

Here are a couple of excerpts from a breathtaking report on gun deaths among children and teens in the U.S. We owe it to our children to wrap our minds around such facts:
Since 1979, America has lost nearly three times as many children and teens to gunfire as the number of U.S. military personnel killed in action during the Vietnam War, and over 23 times the number of U.S. military personnel killed in action in Iraq and Afghanistan (5,013).

Where is our anti-war movement here at home? Why does a nation with the largest military budget in the world refuse to protect its children from relentless gun violence and terrorism at home? No external enemy ever killed thousands of children in their neighborhoods, streets and schools year in and year out.
And we owe to ourselves to force our representatives to act. It's time to take the agenda out of the hands of the 4-million-member NRA, whose leadership really represents only the firearms industry—the cost of whose profits are evident in the chart above.

  1. Thank you, Joseph!

I was listening to LaPierre on some American news media show this morning: this is an insane individual whose rhetoric strikes a chilling note in those of us who've actually read "Mein Kampf" or the writings of Mao.

This man ought to be known by a visible armband.

  2. It's distressing to see fanatics like LaPierre blaming the mentally ill when they so badly need treatment themselves. He is not a person who should be allowed to own a gun.

  3. my fear is that what will follow is Morons like this LaPierre will be the same ones who define
who is mentally ill or what mental illness is.. and that 85,000 of those returning military young kids
who are trained (to kill) beyond their intelligence and hell-bent on shooting the "bad guys" will be the guards at EVERY school in our Faire Nation !

we've become a culture of predators ... Somalia dressed in nicer clothes.

going up to Sears tomorrow... get a gun-rack for my Toyota pick-me-up, an American flag lapel pin "made in China" and a six-pack of Bud Light made and owned by an Holland or German company...
